Hey everyone, im doing a new front end job on my edge, bj's, UCA's, tie rods etc, and so im wondering how do you know when your inner tie rod ends are shot?

When they have excessive play in them.

You'll need a $pecial tool to replace them.
I replaced a notchy steering rack at about 90k miles (2000 4wd).
The inners were still rock solid.

Many alignment shops will inspect your junk for free.

Racks cost about $200. Just about what you'd pay in parts and labor for new inners, unless you buy/rent the tool.
Just sayin'.
