IMRC Location

I have a 2002 2.3l, manual tranny, engine light on, gives a code P1537
Intake Runner open bank 1, truck runs fine but light drives me crazy

Where is the IMRC and what does this mean Bank 1,

the duratec doesnt have variable intake runners, so you dont have an intake runner controller...i dont understand why this code would even exist on your PCM

Wouldn't that have the swirl control? The small butterfly valve in the intake runner might be carboned up or sticking. Or you might have a bad solenoid, or vacuum actuator, or a vacuum leak. Start with a visual inspection. Got a PC/ED manual? It'd walk you through whats to check to narrow down what's wrong. Or take it to the dealer.
