well it was an interesting 2 days , I went to start the truck with the auto start ,so I could get a few things done ,well something happened with the auto start .
When I went out to get in the truck , it wasnt running . ok so I went to use the key , nothing. I could smell that werid electrical smell when something had burnt . The truck wouldnt start with the key .
From what I gather the auto start burnt out a relay inside and kept trying to start the truck , in the process brunt out 2 of the relays in the the truck , the starter , the silinoid on the fender , the battery, so after taking out the auto start , replacing all the bad parts ( 300 bucks later) the truck is running .
Well I was searching I found that the previous owner had disconnected a couple of black boxes ,one of which controlled the daytime running lights , everything is hooked up now and the truck has never ran so good .

I had just the opposite experience with auto start. One day the ignition switch broke and I used the auto start to get the car home.Ive never put another one in though it just doesn't feel right starting your car from the house.

You should not be able to drive the vehicle when started with a remote starter (if installed correctly), as soon as you press the brake pedal it should die. You have to put the key in, and turn it to the run position, then hit the brake pedal to turn off the remote start.

I have never personally had a problem with them, I have a Compustar remote starter in my 05 sport trac and a Prostart in my 91 ranger with zero problems. I also install quite a few at work without problems.
