I think I put the wrong tranny in? Help please

Sorry my first post is asking for help..

2001 ranger edge 4.0 4x2
the tag on the door has a spot that has the letters "tr" and under that is the letter "D" which means I have a 5r55e ?
So the first tranny went out and I got a used one from a junk yard
and put it on in the driveway (fun fun) lol so 3 months and a few 1000 miles later my O/D light starts blinking so I got the code pulled p0741 but the guy using the scaner thought and said it was a 4r44e ( which is a 4 speed?)
and my door tag calls for a 5r55e (5speed?) do I have the wrong tranny in it ? I know that's not why I'm having tranny trobles Im just wandering how do I tell for sure what tranny do I have ?

They are basically the same tranny. The 4R44E came behind the 3.0L and wouldn't physically fit anyway. Diagnose the codes as you normally would.
