Hey guys, I have always wanted a 2003 front end (I have a 96) I found a 2001 Ranger for cheap and it looks like it has the same front end. I think I am going to buy it and take the front end from the 2001 and put it on my 96. How hard is this going to be. After that I want to part it out. Think its a good idea? The 2001 Ranger is going to cost me $1750...I figure the parts for a front end swap would cost at least $500...so that leaves me $1250 in the hole after I take the front end to get back in parts or maybe sell it front end less to someone for parts. I was also thinking maybe I could throw my 96 Front end back on the 2001...that way it would have complete body metal. I could sell it to someone who was interested in it for functionality not looks because then it would look like a 96. What do you guys think of my ideas? Also the 2001 to 1996 swap should work right? Thanks

not the startest idea if u ask me.
check a bit more info on it. ecause swapping the 01+ front ends on 97 or older trucks involves more work thatn the 98+ trucks

What condition is the 01 in, and what's the drivetrain? Will make a difference on the ease of resale.

ive seen a bronco II with a 98-00 front end on it. and they painted it with a red/orange sort of color.

:bad: :bad:

Yeah I want the front clip, bumper, hood, fenders, grille, etc. The drive train is 3.0L 2wd Auto. Extended cab. 1750...is not bad. 2001 with like 130,000 kms. Has AC. I should be able to resell it. This is Canada we are talking about here, everything is more expensive

Has anyone ever done a ranger to explorer front end swap? Would that even work?

Sure. Ever see the S-10 with the BMW front clip? I'll bet that took a lot more work.

Here is a Mountaineer front on a Ranger:

Like this RSH? I love the look!!

Apparently that guy plans to never remove those fenders again.
