I sincerely need help w/ NEW MUSTANG SEATS! (urgent!!!)

Get creative!!!! Grab some flat stock and drill and bolt to the seat. Then measure and drill and bolt the track to that. You can probably do just one side as long as you shim the other to match the thickness of the flat stock. I have used 1/8" flat stock before.
Good luck,

Richard

How tough was it to do the Aerostar/Windstar or F150 seats? I put Mustang GT buckets in my 93 Ranger XLT (wasted bench seat) about 2 years ago and me and the Lab love 'em, but they aren't made for bears my size the driver's side needs replacing. Saturday I go trolling the yards for anything better that I can find...definitely need something with an armrest though.

Yea I just got creative and got em in there.....

Well the passenger side!

That said, I got into a little fender bender last night...

... Gotta sort all that out FIRST!

The Areostar seats <were> a bolt in. Had to use the bolts to thread the rear holes, but, other than that, direct replacement. Arm rests were a nice bonus. I grabbed them because of the "halo" headrest. Felt much better on the back of the head than a rear window EVER will!

Hmm. Those would have to be from a fairly new Mustang, as the older ones have always bolted in/on. look at the trim plates on he side of the seats. take one off and look for a part number. THAT will tell you what year those seats started being used. E=8, F=9, G=00

I looked around at different year seats on the web... I think they came out of a 97+ v6 Stang or something similar (DEFINITELY MUSTANG THOUGH and also explains why the other guy didn't have the balls to do the swap and sold em for $100!!! Lol)

As was said, MOST of the seats are a direct fit on the tracks...but sometimes you need to do slight modifications...and, as you've found out, those front bolts don't directly line up...

But, you can always just drill new front holes (if the back ones line up) and brace them with washers or other metal (usually under the floorboards needs it more than above). Main thing is to have enough "extra" metal on both sides to prevent them from pulling out in the event of an accident.

MOT in Canada requires grade 8 bolts to secure seats to the floorboards...for a good reason. Make sure that whatever hardware you use (I know, it's a race truck) is appropriate for local laws if you do plan to have it roadworthy....

All I did was drill/tap/helicoil the front ones... They locked down DUMB tight!

Then, for the back (which were also wide!) I drilled a hole the same size as stock, ran up to the local hardware store and got me some long enough bolts to go through the floorboards and some BIG A$$ washers! I simply just slipped thru the hole I drilled and CRANKED down (with TWO breaker bars as hard as I could.... Enough to FLATTEN both lock washers BEHIND the BIG, THICK washers!

They're going NO WHERE, and it's ALL Grade 8 bolts/nuts/ext....

My passenger seat is GLORIOUSLY amazing to sit in, compared to the STOCK seats... This needed a little bit of modification but not much by any means. Anyone could do it! The payoff is awesome too. It survived a wreck last night (yes I wrecked ny truck, but it doesn't seem to be bad AT ALL.... God Willing!

That said, the way I did those seats... You couldn't EVER rip them out by hand, or by force. Period. They're legit, and I didnt even do much! Just drilled some holes, used two helicoils and two long @$$ bolts for the rear... As I previously stated.

You just gotta GET UP AND DO IIIIITTTTT!!!!

Good to hear you were not injured...and the truck can be fixed...or, at least, you now have enough experience (seats are a tough one...but you passed) you could rebuild the whole truck...it really is just nuts and bolts and finding the right parts to go with them...

Did you get any pics of the damage?

And about those seats...I've seen some pretty interesting crash videos...and I was shocked at how easily the seats can leave the floorboards behind...but that was really high speed and there was some floorboard crumpling that added to the ease of them coming away from the vehicle...scary to watch even...

So I'm particularly careful about keeping the speed down and not wanting to build myself anything that I might be tempted to drive faster than my Angel can fly...^j^...and she is fast!

Amen... I actually have a lil sunvisor clip that my mom bought me that says those EXACT WORDS! Haha...

"Don't drive faster than your Gardeon (sp?) Angel can fly!"

Good to know that the Aerostar seats were a direct bolt-on. I went prowling the yards yesterday in the next town over. Looked at a lot of trashed Explorer seats. Was hoping to find some F150 buckets to snag. No luck. Finally found a nice pair of Explorer seats but no armrests. On the way back to the front desk, I spotted a 99 Windstar, went and looked inside and lo and behold there was a pair of cloth buckets with armrests...just what I was hoping for. I've been riding around in low-back Mustang GT buckets for almost 2 years and they suck big time for big guys like me...cut you in half at the waist and no upper body support like armrests. Anway, had the yard guys pull the Windstar seats and got the pair for only $107. They look like a direct swap from what I remember about putting the Mustang seats in. Now I have to clean them up a little and figure out how to unbolt the Windstar tracks from the seat bottoms...they're bolted on, but with torx head bolts. Guess I'm off tomorrow to go and buy a torx socket/bit set that will give me some leverage...if that doesn't work maybe the guys down at Chuck's BP station can chuck a torx bit into the impact wratchet and get them out.
