So i discovered this new cool little thing on craigslist where you can go to the car for sale section, and input the year range and make and/or model of what youre looking for...

I picked some random city out west (phoenix maybe? I dont remember) and inputed "73 to 91" for year range and "ford" as the make...

Holy shiznit i was blown away.

ALL KINDS of driver quality, rust free, decently priced trucks, cars, etc. It was like the oasis for me, and made me feel much better about my future vehicular situations.

i was blown away and had to tell someone...always knew out there stuff lasted but i figured it was still scarce and worn out....

Arizona is good for that. in CA the old stuff is expensive, but regular dime a dozen and luxury vehicles can be had dirt cheap.

Actually i found some really good deals in cali....mainly shit that couldnt beat the sniffer anymore. If i brought it back to MI its not a big deal as we dont emission test.

Come on out. Rule of living here you need to own a prerunner, you can remove those rusty panels and install fiberglass on it. The truck will love having that rust gone, the early rangers look great with fiberglass and a good lift.

I kind of have a "Ernest goes to California" thing pictured in my head...

One thing i like about here....no smog, no safety inspections....just go to the secretary of state, pay your fee, stick the tags on and ride

IDK, everything out here in this side of the country kind of is hit and miss, more miss usually. People just don't maintain anything, they drive stuff into the ground then somehow think their pile of crap vehicle is worth a fortune and list them for sale for ridiculous prices, or they park them out in the field and they just rot away.

I picked up an 87 Ranger last December for $800, $1000 after insurance, taxes, registration. Then had to do brakes, rotors, full lube & service, tune up, etc...then spent the better part of this year chasing around a power loss issue which thanks to ADSM08 finally got fixed (o2 sensor).

Stuff out here is really a huge gamble. Given the area we are in with the hills & mountains, hunting, camping, etc. people just bash on stuff all the time, or use vehicles on the farm and beat them up. Occasionally you run across vehicles that are in too good of shape to be true, making you wonder what they are covering up LOL.
