Could someone with a fully-functional, non-issue-ridden 1993-1994 4.0 Ranger upload/send me a decently detailed picture of their fully installed, completely hooked-up fender mounted starter solenoid? Then also if possible a picture of the wiring hookups on the actual starter mounted solenoid, but the first is of primary importance. Thanks in advance.
 
Since no one has posted a photo yet, you may want to look at the two photos in the TECH section under "4.0L clutch upgrade". I installed a 4.0L starter harness to my 2.9L fender mounted solenoid and to a 4.0L starter without any other wiring modifications and everything works perfect. Hope this helps.

I had checked that out, and yes that is the same solenoid but (and I may be wrong since this is simply from my perspective) it appears to be on the passengers side fender, as opposed to the early 3rd gen ranger solenoid being on the driver's side. The problem I see coming from this is the harnesses and wiring might have differences that would throw off what I'm looking for.

Um..well a 93-94 3.0, from what I've read, will work and get me the info I need, but I'm not sure if the 96 (being obd2) will cut it. If you know otherwise then yea feel free.

The method behind this is I want to confirm I have my solenoids wired up correctly, so that I don't fry the computer on my first startup.

What is your issue exactly? Not getting power to something? I kinda just went through a mess with my solenoid and ended up figuring out quite a bit. I'm pretty sure they are all wired the with the same concept in mind, a 12V feed from the key at the top, a constant 12V on one side post and various 12V switchables on the other side post, including a hot wire to the starter, hot wire to the underhood fuse block, maybe others depending on what you're running. (i.e. fog lights)

No its not that I have a lack of power (that I know of), I'm just paranoid about my wiring, electronics, and computer all going up in flames when I start it for the first time lol.
