I play with Jetski's and boats and what not that use mixed fuel.

I've had some people tell me that when their pre-mix gas gets old, they just dump it into their vehicle.

When I asked wether or not that would be bad for it, no one answered. lol

If I were to dump old pre-mix 40:1 fuel into my Ranger - would it harm anything?

I'd think it would mess up the cat, but I really have no idea.

Sorry for the silly question, but this has been bugging me for a while. :)

Thanks!

That is a silly idea! The oil mixed in the gasoline comes back OUT when the gasoline evaporates! In jetski or whatever, the oil forms droplets that are COLD from the evaporation of the fuel. The cold fuel and oil droplets FIRST go thru the crankshaft bearings where they COOL and lubricate the bearings.
These droplets are slowly PUSHED out of the bearings and are BURNT in the combustion chamber.
In OUR engines these droplets will form in the intake manifold! Where they will slowly be pushed into the hot valves and then into the combustion chamber... THEN out and into the cat..
EVEN thinking of doing this should HURT your head!
We should ALL LEARN how a combustion engine WORKS!
