I bought a pair of Tuff Country 3" AAL.
The instructions said tighten down the center bolt...Nothing about clamping the leaf pack to compress the ALL spring. So I'm tightening and tightening, the BANG, bolt snaps and leafs go flying.
I'm kind of pissed, I paid $64 for these and I can't use them and it's not worth sending them back.
I tried to use big ol' c clamps to compress the pack before tightening the bolt, but i can't get it to compress all the way.

Someone help me out here. I'm dumb founded.

Those are the same instructions I've found everywhere. I think my leafs were overloaded as they look pretty flat.

those are the right instructions. I think you need to get new bolts and try again, you may have over tightened. I actually just did this 2 days ago.

I will try again, the bolts looked pretty cheap. Could I just use long allen head bolts? Seeing as they have the cylindrical head and are hardened steel.

you could, might need to grind them a bit smaller or drill out the hole in the plate for the bolt head...
