So, steering with 37" tires and a locker up front sucks......
Time to do something about it.
I think this is my plan, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever done it.
I am going to use the the stock pump and stock gear box. :shok:
Ya or No?
Money is tight, so I was going to give it a go like this, and if need be, in the future, use an almighty saginaw pump.
However, one thing.... Everyone always talks about drilling out their stock pump for more flow. I am assuming they are drilling out the outlet fitting?????
Am I right?
Let me know, and thanks for your help in advance! :icon_thumby:

P.S I am rebuilding the pump and gear box (and drilling and tapping) as we speak.
I am getting all my parts from http://www.surpluscenter.com/.

That is what some past research told me as well when I was looking into doing hydro assist on mine. I have yet to try it though.

Research told you to drill out the outlet fitting?

You want higher volume or higher pressure?

I assume you're looking for volume more so then pressure. Drilling out the outlet fitting and the orifice on the flow control valve should accomplish it.

Correct.

Agreed, drilling out the fitting doesn't give you a higher pump pressure, but supposedly gives you more volume so the ram can fill faster so you don't have as much steering lag with the ram.

What do you mean by drilling out the orifice on the flow control valve?
Like grind a notch into the top of it?
