How should I wire up my volt guage just right to the battery or splice into something???

If it is a Voltage gauge not an amp meter then yes, just hook it to a Ground and a "key on" 12volt wire.

Voltage meter is a draw on the system, not much but not nothing either, so best to have it off when key is off.

I just ran a wire under the dash into a blank space in the fuse box on my 84 Bronco 2. Seemed to work just fine.
