hi how do i remove this bolt in the photo marked in blue. it's a 2.9 1987. When I turn it the crankshaft turns with it. Thanks! Oh in case youre wondering I want to remove this bolt because I want to put the pulley plate from this engine to the engine in my car, my car has a no a/c engine, this pulley plate fits the belt for the compressor. thanks

1) Impact gun.
2) Hammer on end of breaker bar.
3) Rig up something at the other end to prevent the crank turning and then use a breaker bar.

+1 ^^^

And I assume an automatic transmission?

Otherwise just put manual trans in gear to lock crank.

And another method is to use the starter motor.
Put socket on bolt put breaker bar on socket
slide a longer tube onto breaker bar and place it against frame or ground.
engage starter motor, just a bump is all it takes usually

And then there is the piston option, remove spark plug, feed some rope into spark plug hole
It will coil up
turn crank until that piston is at TDC and rope presses against head, a hydrolock without the "hydro"
That locks the crank.
rope spreads out the load on the pistons top side
Piston and rod handle ALOT more pressure when cylinder fires than crank bolt requires to loosen or tighten

EDIT: doh
OK so I didn't look at the picture that well, engine is out of vehicle

an impact gun would probably be the fastest way but one of the methods stated above would work fine another way you could do it is wrap a chain wrench around the harmonic balancer asuming you have one big enough for the job or even own one at all and there not exactly the cheapest tools

If you are trying to get the additional 1 groove a/c add on pulley off, taking the balancer bolt out isn't going to help you. Take out the 4 small bolts and start prying gently around the edge, it's a press fit on the center hub

If you put a socket on a big breaker bar and rest the bar against the passenger side frame rail frame and hold it there while someone else turns the ignition key...

Cranking or running the engine turns clockwise (viewed from the front) so bracing against the underside of the passenger side frame rail should allow the bolt to back out

I have used the "breaker bar against the frame" technique and it works well. But please play it safe and make sure you disconnect the coil packs to prevent the engine from starting.

Two bolts in other end of crankshaft, insert prybar between them and let it push against the engine stand as you loosen balancer bolt.
