How much gear oil do I need?

I was going to change out the gear oil on my old diffs (D28, 7.5") and was wondering how much gear oil do I need to buy to refill them?

it's in your owners manual if you have one. seems like 2 bottles per diff tho, you may have a little left over too.

How about an amount? Stores sell many different bottle sizes. lol

I have a haynes, but its at my friends house, and I was on my way to walmart right now...

I believe the diffs hold over 2 quarts, but no more than 3 quarts. So buy 3 quarts if you are doing 1x diff, 5 (maybe 6) quarts if doing 2x diffs.

When I did my rear diff (7.5") a few years back, I had like 1/3 of a bottle left out of 3x quarts.
