In my truck the 4X4 is messed up, i know its the transfer case motor or the 4X4 control module but i dont want to blow 100 dollars yet. I have heard that you can get a pair of needle nose pliers and take off the cap of were the transfer case motor gear connects to the inside of the actual transfer case and their is a little slot were you can put the pliers and spin it. I was wondering is that when you are turning the gear how far do you have to go and can you feel when the transfer case is in hi or low?

if you take the t-case motor off its pretty straight forward, but you wouldnt want to go though all that before you go wheeling, you should just spend the money on a new motor

it's what i did after i coulsnt fix my electrical 4 wheel drive shifter.
and trust me, i tried everything and spent 900 dollars on it replacing everything including the GEM module.

the Borg Warner 1354 came in two options....Electric shift and Manual Shift. it is a direct bolt on replacement, and i was able to get one from the same year, and model ranger from a junkyard for 200.....250 with the shifter, linkage, plates, rubber boots for the cab...the bells and whistles really.

removed the front seats, tore up the carpet a little, installed the new transfer case and linkage and put the seats back in all in under 2 hours. never had a problem with the manual case since it went in!

hadto play with and adjust the linkage a little after but it works better than that crappy electric shifter i had.
