Looking to install a ham radio and off road lights on a 98 mazda b4000 6cyl 4x4 does anyone know if there is a hole in the firewall to run the 12v wires?

I often go through existing grommets along with the original wires. If you have an automatic transmission, there may be a grommet where the clutch would have penetrator. That's a very convenient place.

Get yourself one of these and use and existing grommet. It will make things so much easier as long as the wire is 10 gauge or smaller.

I have one of those too...

do you use it to sew up a big roast?

It creates a hole in the grommet for the wire to pass through and because of the way it pierces the rubber, the hole seals right up around it. Think of it as being a temporary conduit. Just remember to pull the tool off the wire before you crimp the connector or terminal on the end of the wire.

I’ve used existing grommets and I’ve found a clear spot out of the way, drilled a hole, and installed my own grommet. Either method is perfectly acceptable. The high tech method would be to find a spot to install a bulkhead connector to do a factory style connection, but that’s not completely necessary.
