HIGH performance 2.5l

I would like to make a 2.5l ranger a better performer than stock. Where does one look for different motors(not V-8) that will fit? I will be working with a 98 or 99 model year. example:T-bird super coupe or dohc etc.

Take an older ranger(94-89) block, put your crank in it, new rods and good pistons, throw a turbo on it, turbo coupe ECU and harness in it, and call it a day. Lol, its not exactly that easy but the physical engine work is easy.

Its not just throwing the crank and rods in a older motor,crank sensor,cam sensor and a number of brackets have to be changed to get it to work.The easiest route is to go turbo and maintain good streetability.You can bore your 2.5,add a good set of lightweight pistons and if you can afford it a Race engineering lightweight crank.Do some porting on the intake and mill the head about 75 thou.Put a good header on it and get a Quartermaster chip.

in order to use the TC harrness and ecu you need toput the distributor in it, hence the reason you need the older block.

I'm using a '85 T bird engine, '89 Ranger harness, '86 T bird ECU, '89 Ranger ignition (didn't want to deal with TFI...), there's apparently some Escort that has a stand alone module for the EDIS, the old DIS like I have is stand alone but would require a different crank sensor than the '98-01 2.5L...
