Hey new here. Need help with the 2000 Ford ranger 4x4 4.0ohv

Hey my names nick I joined this forum because I had a concern with the 2000 ranger I want. I was going to get the 01 4.0 sohc but I didn't want It because I'm not big on the honey comb grille I know I could do the grille swap but If I was going to get the 01 I would want to keep it original beside aftermarket parts so I decided on the 2000 ford ranger 4.0 ohv the only concern I got is the 160 hp I'm not sure if it can hold the weight of 35s or 38s and a 9 inch lift I want to make it a daily driver but a rock crawler on weekends. Not nothing to extreme. I asked some other people and they said 4.88 gears and up but I'm not sure if I want to do a sas right now cause money wise and ifs are just as capable than solid axle up front. If I don't like the ifs I'll swap in a solid axle. Can you yall tell me if the engine would hold up for what I'm wanting to do?

A lot is going to depend on your gear ratio. There's a chart in the Tech section.

This should help you get an idea of the best tire/gear combo for your needs. There are other factors too, but this is a good place to start.

As far as comparing the OHV and the SOHC, just search the 4.0 section of the Forums. Lot's of good info, pros and cons, arguments for and against, etc...
