Help with sub and amp

Picked up a 2500 watt sub and amp on a trade. The sub is 12" power acoustic gothic, and the amp is a power acoustik razor rzr1-2500d. I know this amp will only be powering the sub. Amp has 2 25 watt fuses on the back.

I've found conflicting information on the net, about what size anl fuse and wire to run with this, And I've never messed with a sub and amp.

I also haven't been able to find the rms of this sub, I wanna say I read 1500 some where but couldn't find it. They don't make this model any more so it's not listed on the site.

I'm sure I'll have to piece together my own kit for this.

The fuses in the amplifier are to protect the amplifier in case sub woofer wires or speaker short out.
You will need to run a Power wire from the battery, with inline fuse at battery end, to the amplifiers location.
You can use chassis Ground for Negative power wire

I would use 4gauge, and 60amp inline fuse
Or 6ga if wire will be 10ft, or less, long.

The sub woofer's wires can be smaller gauge since it is AC volts and above 40volts

If your head unit doesn't have Remote on/off for separate amplifier then you will need to use a relay at the battery end of power wire, rated for 60amps

There is a lot on info on the web on how to properly wire an amp setup. I have done about 20 or so in my life and they are all the same for the most part. You can get kits pretty cheap. The bigger the wire the better it will be. Most subs and amps that say they are 2500 watts are not 2500 watts unless they are a good name brand. What you have is most likely 1000-1500 watt RMS which is what you will be hearing on a steady note. It may peak at 2500 once and that's how manufactures can label something to make it sound better. Judging it only has 2 25 watt fuses then I would say its more around the 1000 watt range. Just from my opinion. When wiring, remove the main fuse from the power wire off the battery so you don't accidentally short something out. That's something people don't do and wonder why they're stuff doesn't work.

AMPs X Voltage = Watts

But while audio watts are similar they are not exactly the same.
1,500watt amplifier can only generate 1,500watts for milliseconds
Even RMS numbers are "cooked" for better "looking" results.

And audio watts are deceiving
1 watt is quite LOUD
2 watts is NOT twice as loud as 1 watt
10 watts is twice as loud as 1 watt
100 watts is twice as loud as 10 watts
1,000 watts is twice as loud as 100 watts
10,000 watts is twice as loud as 1,000 watts

It is a geometric progression, you need to increase watts by 10 times to double the volume.
A good loud amplifier for a vehicle would be 20watts per channel
