HELP WITH ELECTRIC FANS, WHICH ONE TO USE? ... THERE IS NOT MUCH SPACE THERE.. WHICH SLIM FANS ARE BEST TO BUY?THANKS!

There's some good options out there these days. I got one off fleabay that comes with a fan shroud (makes a big difference), it fit fine.

You probably will like the flex a lite options, but they are spendy.

I thought they were just going to the wrecking yard and finding those in old BMWs or something

I think its out of volvos, but yea that's an option.

Mercedes pusher twins fit a fist gen nice and keeps my 302 happy. Dunno how they fit a later truck, mine are out of a C230.

There you go, its the Mercedes ones. I heard of that before. It is weird they fit perfect.

how much horsepower? if its a stockish roller engine hyundai fans...hell anything that will fit works.

if you are exceeding 300 hp....you need to open up the core...which will allow you to locate the radiator forward....and put a real radiator in there....with real airflow..

then you can use whatever fan you want. mechanical or electrical.

I am a fan of fans.

Shoot, 302 in a 98+ I would run as much explorer as I could. Belt drive, fan, radiator etc.

hey, i built this fan into a home made shroud on my build. the nice thing with this fan is that the motor is built into the shroud. saves room....

thread....

How much room you have depends on what front accessories and what radiator you have. I have the Duff/Northern radiator in mine and '86-91 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis accessories... I hardly have room for electric fans and a mechanical one definitely doesn't fit. Explorer 5.0 front accessories open up a lot more possiblities. I had to run two fans (pusher/puller on both sides of the radiator) and had to cut out some of the grille to fit the outer fan.

Careful parts selection will help you a lot. This article may be helpful in selecting front accessories/timing cover/water pump so that you have the most room possible:

How many horses does a stock fan use ??

The answer that depends on the condition of the fan clutch. If the fan is running all the time it uses a good chunk, up to 10. If it decouples like it should, its more like half of that.

a tight ranger mechanical fan is a minimum of 1hp...over 7 hp with clutch fully engaged
