Hey there.... I have a 94 ranger 4.0 manual transmission. I recently ran into a problem where my truck won’t move it will start and go into gear but just revs doesn’t actually move no matter whether it’s in 4wd or not. I’m just looking for some advice as to what it could be.

First thing I would check is the clutch.

If manual 4wd you might crawl under the truck and make sure the t-case isn't hung up in neutral.

It’s a push button 4wd

Any weirdness from it? Shift motors are less than reliable and you still have a neutral position. I think the lights blink at if you if it screws up.

Do you have automatic or manual hubs?

If you have manual hubs unlock them, put it in 4x4, and jack the rear end up and see if both driveshafts will spin when you spin one.

You can do the same test if you have auto hubs, just expect the whole thing to bind when they engage. In this scenario that would be a good thing.

Remove the electric transfer motor and insert a flat blade screwdriver and rotate it to see if that changes anything. I have same setup on my truck and this was the easiest way to check for the problem. Its just a thought. I hope it helps.
