i have a 92 ford ranger 4x4 2.3 l 4 cyl engine. i just did a complete overhaul, rings bearings oil pump alternator valves all the good stuff.. i have put about 10000 miles on it since and the other day was driving and smelt oil. stoped and found oul over all of the drivers side of engine and hood. also have noticed power loss kinda it seems like something dragging over power loss.its always gutledd!! but i was lookin at it and noticed that the oil is coming from the dipstick. i was thinkin its blowby or pcv. all codes have been pulled and it passes except for o2 sensor. im not sure what to do. any help or ideas would be appreciated. i need my truck winter is coming and we get lots of snow. iv put enough money into it. if its not an easy fix ill prob just sell it and take the losses.

If your down on power and have excessive blowby, a bad ring would be my first guess.

i think its your PCV, pop it out(its in the hard rubber line going from your valve cover to the intake manifold). when its out shake it, the check ball inside should rattle. if it rattles, its good. no rattle= no good. If its bad the intake vacum will suck oil through the engine. which i think gave you an O2 reading. any smoke at hi RPM's? (3000rpm) if there is im almost positive its the PCV.

i checked the pcv valve it rattled im gonna pick one up and try a new one anyways just trying to find a simple fix first i dont want to tear into the motor again.

id replace the O2 sensor(s) because that can have a big effect on performance.
