I have a 1999 Ranger, 2WD, 2.5L, 5-SPD, regular cab, 6-ft bed, 112-inch wheelbase.

VIN: 1FTYR10CXXUA03516

Trying to find the correct part number for the front parking brake cable. The one that connects to the pedal, not the intermediate cable.

Different sources are telling me different things. Tasca's website says 4L5Z-2853-AA (same as Motorcraft BRCA-10) is the part, but a local dealership says it doesn't fit and is for later MYs (like '04 and after, or something). The dealership also told me that 112-inch wheelbase isn't an option for my truck, but it's on the door tag.

Here are some of the other numbers I've been given:
F37Z-2853-B
F87Z-2853-AA
F57Z-2853-A

I think all of the above numbers were given to me by the same dealership on different days!

I'm really hoping that someone can verify that the Motorcraft BRCA-10 will fit, as I can get that one for much cheaper than the others, but ultimately I just need to know what the correct part is.

Is there a place online to easily look up Ford part numbers? The official www.fordparts.com site seems to be a joke and only shows the generic number, not the full number.

Thanks in advance!

You can go to Fordparts.com and search by VIN number to look at the diagrams there and get a better idea of what you need. According to Fordparts, 112" isn't an option either.

Alternatively, you can measure the cable. If it is the 44" cable, there are several options available on Rockauto.com. Pictures of the parts are also available on Rockauto and are fairly reliable for mechanical parts.
