So I want to do a little lift on my 1990 XLT. I have 31s on it right now and they hardly rub at all, but they look to squished in there to me. I want to make it sit a little higher, but being a broke high schooler I want to do it without spending much money. I want to put F150 coils on the front and an add a leaf in the rear. What I want to know is do I need any specific F150 coils to do it? Is there a difference between the 2wd and 4wd springs? Has anyone done it? And will the stock drivelines work? Thanks, any advice helps.

HELP!! F150 coils in 1990 ranger xlt

Anyone put f150 coils in their ranger? I have a 90 XLT 4x4 and want to do a really cheap lift. I know it will ride rough but thats ok. Are the springs the same for 2wd and 4wd f150s? How much did it lift you? Do the stock drivelines work or do you need different ones? Any and all advice helps. Thanks!

When I first got on this site there were a few threads about this subject. I would try using the search button up in the blue header bar near the top of the page. IIRC they lifted about 3-4" but that would depend on the f-150 that the springs came out of. There is also some small fab needed to hold the spring in place, but the search will find that info for you.
Good luck and welcome to TRS,

Richard

It's considered good etiquette to ask a question in only one thread/forum. Check the other one you asked in.

Hey thanks man! Im new to the site so im still trying to figure out how it works. Thats the same reason I posted in more than one thread, I didnt know what I posted to lol

i didnt see the other thread, so here is my suggestion. explorer 4-door leafs in the rear, 2" coil spacers in front. probably around $100, and about 3 hours labor, if you are good with tools and have the right ones. i did mine in 2 hours, didnt break any bolts. 33's are a tight fit, had to trim front fenders ahead of the tires, and roll in the rear bottom corner. it was fine with 31's

If the above responses look odd, it's because I merged both threads into one.

I used 2wd F150 springs from the junkyard, cut a half turn off iirc and i got around 3"s lift. had to get adjustable camber bushings, stock driveshafts were fine, if you want some lift in the back, drop shackles for 88+ chevy trucks will give you an easy 2" lift
