HELP DECODING MY VIN #

I recently bought a 1990 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab 4.0L V6 4x4 (VIN# 1FTCR15X9LPB74062. My VIN sticker on the driver door is completely unreadable. It's practically gone. I just need to know what I'm working with in order to buy new parts for the truck. Does it have a Dana 28 or 35 in it? What wheel bearing size do I buy. Depending if I have a Dana 28 or 35 the wheel bearings differ. The dealership has know clue. They ran my VIN and their data base doesn't go back that far. They said they delete data every 5 years.

All I'm asking is the basic info on my truck e.g. gear ratio, Dana 28 or 35, axle size, etc....... By the way, I'm new to Ford trucks. My 1st bought Ford pick up truck ever. Any help or info from anyone would be appreciated, thanks.

The VIN doesn't have that info, and yes Ford doesn't keep data past 10 years in most cases.

Ranger with 4.0l will have a 8.8" rear axle, and many 4.0l 4x4s did have Limited Slip(L/S) on the rear axle, but not all.
If you jack up both rear wheels(block front tires) and spin one while watching the other, with a Ford Trak loc(L/S) the other wheel will spin in the same direction as the wheel you are spinning, OPEN differential won't.

With rear wheels off the ground you can mark drive shaft and a tire, rotate tire 1 full turn while counting the turns of the driveshaft.
You will see drive shaft turn 4 times for 4.10 ratio
Just under 4 times for 3.73 ratio

Front axle will, of course, have same ratio as rear
