Ok, so i'm not sure what's going on, and I need some help. I know a bit, and once my bro gets home, he can help, but I need to figure out what's going on, so here's the details:

1990 Ranger XLT

It is running fine when driving on the freeway, around town, but after I just completed a long trip, it is now idling very roughly, at times, it will kill the engine. So it is obviously choking right? But why? Also, the check engine light will intermittently, but not for more than a minute or two, turn on.

Other issues, it seems that there might be a vacuum hose leak, I can hear it, it has a few oil leaks that need to be addressed, but otherwise, that's all I know.

Any help would be awesome, thanks!

fix your vaccum leak first, then clean your mass air flow sensor. also tell us what motor you have. if you dont know where the vaccum leak is then get some starting fluid and spray it on all the vaccum connections you can find. when the idle goes up then youve found your leak and just have to repair it.
