The missing piece of plastic might be in one of the axle tubes headed for s wheel bearing. If this was mine, i would remove the wheels and axle shafts and thoroughly clean the whole axle housing and differential. You also still need to find put what is hitting the sensor. This axle has quite a problem.
I don't know the spec on that one (probably was never published since it isn't adjustable, and very hard to measure) but the ones I do know are far smaller than your average spark plug gap.Also judging by the look of the lube... seems to have some metallic particulates in it. Worn carrier bearings and the diff being allowed to move would certainly cause this too. I'm not sure of the sensor to tone ring air gap.. but it isn't very much.

Take a small pry bar or a large screw driver and GENTLY pry upward right about where I put that red X. I'm betting it moves up and down.
