So, i have a 2006 ford ranger with around 90000 miles on it, The other day drove it 70 miles out to my brother in laws house to help him move in .. and i put it in park at his house, and an hour later when i tried to move it, it wont shift from park..... hoping someone here can help me out

Welcome to TRS :)

There is a Shift Lock solenoid/actuator at the base of the steering column in the cab, that prevents shifter from moving unless drivers foot is pressing down on the brake pedal.

First, do the brake lights work?
Brake light power activates that solenoid so you can shift, could just be a blown fuse.

Google: ford ranger shift interlock bypass button

There should be a button on steering column that releases the lock manually until problem can be found/fixed
Your 2006 manual would have that location specifically
Example of that button on an Explorer seen here: http://www.agcoauto.com/content/images/brakes/shift_brake_interlock_override_explorer.jpg

Worse case, you can set emergency brake and disconnect 1 battery cable, that should release the shifter lock, shift it into Neutral.
REMEMBER THE E-BRAKE!!!!!!!!!
Reconnect battery cable and start vehicle in Neutral

Some years didn't have the button, they just had it set up so that if you turned the key out of lock, but not to run it would disengaged the interlock and you could shift to N and fire it up that way.

Sorry about the late reply, long day , so my third brake light is out ... checked the wiring to the shell and changed at the fuses with no luck .... ive gotta grab a new fuse tester to check the fuses, but ill check out that shift bypass for sure...
