Found this forum while researching what it will take to do a V8 swap on my 1988 Ranger 2WD extended cab 2.9l V6/5 speed manual. I have been reading up on all the info but I'm sure I will be asking some questions as I get into this project.
Picked up a salvage titled but good running 1989 mustang 5.0/T5 as my donor car and am now researching and starting to gather up the rest of the pieces I will need.

So far the only thing I haven't found too much info on is transmission mounts. Will the existing mount in the Ranger work with the T5 or?

Looking forward to tearing into this project!

I had a 93 2.3 5sp that I put a 5.0 with a T5 in. What I did was chisel off the rivets on the frame and the slid the mount back to where the front bolt lined up with the back hole and then elongated the holes about 1/2" with stock mounts. And btw, your clutch master cylinder should work fine, the 92 and up had smaller dia masters and wouldn't work well with a 3/4" slave. I found that a 88 v6 has a 3/4" master.

You can also look up Ricks Rangers on facebook. He sells a high clearance bolt in trans crossmember that works perfect for this. Cheap too.

My '85 had a crossmember that kinda swoops up and over the exhaust. You can just unbolt it with three bolts (bolts directly on the frame) and slide it back and forth on the frame. There are a couple bolt hole options (it lined up with the forward set of holes for my C5) or you can drill new in the frame.

My '86 parts truck has a big dogbone looking thing with brackets riveted on the frame and the crossmember is mounted on rubber bushings to the brackets. That one is probably not so easily moved to and fro.

Both my '85 and '86 were A4LD trucks, I am not sure if the changeover was across the board or not (it probably was)

Too bad you are so far away, the Mustang looks like a solid car. I know where there is a homeless 351W that would love to meet it...

I couldn't find anything on Facebook, I did have better luck on Ebay though.

Crossmember does look nice.
