My project is a 1983 ford ranger currently non operable . I will need lots of help. For some reason it will start up cold but after running a while it will die.
and needs time to cool down.

Welcome Art. Sounds like an ignition system getting too hot. Do some serious research on the Tech pages on here and that will help you out for starters.

Welcome! I agree. I don't know if it was in your year or not but the TFI modules (piggybacking the back of the distributor) are known to do that.

Welcome to TRS Art. Believe me you will get all the help you need here, this place is almost surreal with great folks. You wont get the flaming here that happens at other sites, people here are actually friends. Post up your engine problem in general disc. and or the engine sections and folks will rally to help. Make sure you post Yr, engine ect. Again welcome to TRS,:icon_thumby:

Yeah, what Lima Bean said (you know the 2.3 is known as a Lima engine by now I hope)...and specify Fuel injected or carbed...it can make a big difference in the replies you get...lol
