And thanks for the add!
I'm not new to Fords by any means. And I am not new to the inline Lima turbo world either.
My latest project itch has got me pointing towards transplanting a turbo four two into a 1988-1993 Ranger
I have found a good donor, but the only drawback I can really see is it is a factory 4x4, which will not work for the application I'm looking towards building.
What I'm wondering is, and I'm turning towards you folks for advice, can I just remove all the 4x4 suspension components from the front end and just install traditional 2x4 suspension components in their place?
Or is the frame different and won't support that swap?
I haven't purchased the vehicle yet, so that's why I'm asking you folks before I pulled the trigger on purchasing it. The vehicle is extremely solid and intact. They want $800 for it as it sits. I've told the owner that I don't even want the powertrain that's in it, and I would give them $600 if he wants to pull the engine and transmission before I even take it off his hands. He seems somewhat interested in that, because the heads that he put on it are replacements that were new.

So, is it possible to just ditch all the 4x4 front end components and replace it with 2x4 components?

TIA

Pretty sure you need to swap the frame axle-beam pivot brackets, and I think they are partially welded in place. Doable, but labor intensive.

I thought everything was riveted from the factory? I know it's been done. If you don't have intentions of using drop beams, I've heard that Explorer and Bronco 2 2wd beams bolt into 4x4 frame brackets. No idea if it's true or not...

There is some welding too, the engine crossmember needs swapped.

Or track down a set of fairly rare 2wd BII beams, they will drop in.

Or Mustang II or similar swap...
