Ok and yes I have read every post on Missfires, stumbling ect on this and every other forum on the net as far as I can tell.

So what I got
94 B4000 240K motor toast and dissassembled

95 Exploder engine with 97K

Engine goes into B4000, Since I didn't take out the engine I'm pretty sure Vaccum lines are where they should be can't find any missing. Engine is throwing EGR codes 335-337 sometimes but not always. Vaccum pulling 20 at idle down to 10 or so with some gas, idle's fine at 800 rpms. From about 1k to 2500 RPMS feels like a stumble, power would be about a 4cyl version this thing is suppost to haul butt with the 4.0 I can barely pull out into traffic. So I've pulled plug wires trying to see if I can get a bigger stumble out of it but to no avail, I've put about 8 miles on it so far since dropping the motor in so maybe a cloggy injector or something ? how do I test the EGR system ? Any hits ?

Thanks
Matt

What's this 4cyl thing?

If you have ANY 4cyl electronics in there, I'm surprised it runs at all.

Off idle stumbling is often due to excessive fuel. An outside observer might see a puff of black smoke. Or a spark plug inspection will confirm.

Then run the self tests.

I hope that's a 95 long block. 95 model year electronics are vastly different from earlier years.

i think he means powerwise, it runs like a 4 cyl

yes running like a 4cyl, going to replace the fuel filter as soon as this storm blows over, Then compression test it , then plugs and wires. Going for the basic tune up first then go from there.

If you want to take EGR out of the equation, simply take the vaccum line off the top of the EGR valve and plug the line that you removed.

Drive it, note result. Yeah, it'll spit EGR codes / light the CEL, but if it runs better than it does now, you know you are in the right ballpark.

This assumes that your EGR valve is completely closing when there is no vaccum applied. I assume yours IS closing since your idle is a stable 800.

Well sometimes it's just the stupid things, I put new plugs, wires, air filter, Fuel filter and she runs like a top, the EGR codes keep comming and going but she's purring like a contented Cat. Now for Tires and shocks, stereo some clean up and I'm done.
