i dont say be carefull . why would i tell someone not to have fun?
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has put a mustang ll IFS under a Ranger. Im building a V8 1989 Ranger. Im going to remove the entire cross member, and twin I-beam set up out from under it. The idea behind that is that it will not only shed quite a few lbs off the nose, but provide better selection of good brakes, better handling, and a over all better ride. Im going to run a motor plate as well. So that will free up a lot of room for some good headers. Along with that set up I will use a Flaming River 23:1 manual rack and pinion for the steering. Im just wondering if anyone has done any leg work on the ride height, and or coil over spring rates.?? Any input is welcome. Or if you can direct me to info in regards to. Thanx RT

The Mustang II setup has been done. A lot of bagged guys would ditch the ibeams for the double A arm setup for improved camber gain. There used to be a few builds on Ranger Power Sports, but those seem to have disappeared for good.

AJE also offers a Fox/SN95 style Mustang clip with coilovers that takes a couple of hundred lbs off the nose of the I-beam trucks and would give you even more options for suspension, brakes, etc. MII stuff is fine, but having integrated hub bearings can be a pain, and it's probably a lot easier to find newer Mustang stuff in a pinch vs MII.

Factory Five has a spindle kit for their MK4 roadster; it uses SN95 brakes and hubs but is a double wishbone setup instead of a Mcpherson strut.
