well im looking to order my HEI distrubtor for my 302 swap whats the best place to get one from?

Ive order tons of stuff from Bronco Graveyard an they have this one

Any other place online i should look at for a decent priced dizzy?? Also my motors from a 92 efi f150 an i switch to carb so as far as i know it should have the cast cam gear right?

Thanks

Thats priced the same as the one from Summit, but you will need a steel gear. The 92 F150s had a roller cam in them.

where do i get a steel gear from? just curious what would happen if i didnt have the right gear?

He uses that same dizzy in my link on his 302 out of a 91 Mustang. The gear is hardened, and will work with your cam out of the box.

EDIT: The only issue he had with it was clearance with his air cleaner. He had to buy a smaller air cleaner. Also, Rock Auto has the steel gears, but they are about 25 bucks. You also need to be sure to get a gear for the right shaft diameter. It's easier just to buy a dizzy that comes with one.

You should be able to get the dizzy from your local part store just confirm your cam gear type. The way to tell is look at the gear on the old dizzy if the ends are machined it is a steel gear if there a rough cast markings it is a iron cam. The part stores around here will match or beat the lowest price for most parts. It is worth the try.

It's been said that you can measure the push rod length to determine whether or not you have a roller cam or flat tappet. If it's flat tappet you need a cast gear. If it's roller then you need a steel gear. If you're switching intakes, simply look if it has spider and dog bones under the intake.....

Did the HEI style come on anything factory though? I thought it was aftermarket only.

Around here they laugh in your face... They were so far off from any online aftermarket place it wasn't funny and freight was rediculous.

I did stay local for normal boring stuff like water pump, gaskets, Duraspark dizzy, harmonic balancer and so on. They were pretty competitive and I could get the parts next day at the latest with no freight. They were kinda close on the carb so I went with them so I had a real live person to deal with if I had a problem.

The intake, headers and other "outside the line" stuff came from elsewhere.

thats a wicked deal ! but kinda seems wierd how they can sell one that cheap but everywhere else is double the price? an they have free shipping where would they make the money on those seems wierd to me

I dont know but i got friends running them and they are the real deal.

I of course nuked one only day 5 into my V8 ranger but i think it was mfg defect. New one was sent out that next morning hassle free and has been working great (knock on wood)

And they have a mini high torque starter for on 60 bucks shipped and its chrome with a lifetime warranty that im gonna be picking up next pay day. Might be something to look into for frame clearance and reliability
