I've checked the wiring, it's all good. So I'm guessing its the head unit.

Looks like I need a replacement..

When I come across the money I think I'll upgrade to a Pioneer Premier DEH-P390MP. Right now I'm rocking the Pioneer DEH-1600, which is pretty old but was an amazing head unit. My brother had it in his Mitsu Mirage until it broke down, and gave it to me. I've had it in my Ranger ever since.

The AUX input on the P390 makes me happy. I could get a cable and hook an MP3 to it whenever I wanted. And SD slot would make me happier, but oh well.

Anyway, has anyone used one of these before?

Also, my old Pioneer had a "loud" setting, it put extra power to the speakers to allow more bass, since I don't have the funds for subs and an amp at this time the extra boom was a plus for the old head unit. Anyone know if this new Pioneer has a setting like that?

yea most do but its not a button any more its a setting now

like 4x4fun said its does have that feature but you have to go through the audio settings to change it. and i have a set of subs for sale with amp and cap. 2 12's and 1200 watt amp. all sony explode except cap. im askin 500 for it all, its in my 86 ext cab ranger right now with a custom box. the box can go with it

As said before, I can't afford subs.

And I'm glad to hear that about the settings, it would be a little harder to turn it on and off (when I switch to country) but I could deal with that.

I'm not sure if I trust the sellers for that CD player. I can't find it much anywhere other than on those random sites.

Crutchfield does have a nice looking Sony and a decent Kenwood, but I don't know what the differences would be between those and the Pioneer I've been looking at.

I plan on making my own custom box anyway when the funds present themselves, since I would be losing my rear storage I figure why not make some.

It will look like this.

Except the subwoofer portion will be rotated to face the back of my seat. I want to be able to recline. I still need to check those measurements, I may be able to keep it the way it is.

cool man +1 for doing some thing %100 custom

if i get my new job and you build that box, you pick up shipping ill supply the sub (s)

Yeah. I had to work through a few designs before I found one that worked for me. I was originally going to go with two 10s but then I decided on one good 12. The amp goes in the center portion (vented of course) and the part on the left is for storage. It's also built so that I can keep my toolbox in the back of the cab where it already is.

well i have my two kickers, and i pretty much did my version in the back of my truck, and if i get my new job, im redoing it all. its ok but i wanna take the time and do it as good as i do install for other people, so this is my beta version, but ill be getting ride of my two kickers, and going to JL so if i get my job and you want them there yours idk how you get them up to you. there two 12'' cvt's

www.onlinecarstereo.com you wont find anything cheaper on the gray market than that site. I was looking at some pioneer hu for my friends saab that was about 76 bucks. type in 5OFFCART in the promo box for guess what??!?! five bucks off! woot
