A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
87 ranger.

Im taking my truck up to the shop at work saturday to fix some of the deer damage.

Ive had a new headlight switch for years and havent put it in (the headlight part works but the dimmer for the dash/dome doesnt)

The new switch didnt come with a stalk for the knob. I assume i have to remove the old one.

How the hell is this accomplished?

If it doesn't come out easy don't force it, just use a bigger hammer. :icon_thumby:

Typically a spring loaded button on the switch housing. Pull stalk out to headlamp position... push and hold the button and pull the stalk from the switch.

It's easier to figure out when you have the whole mess out of the dash where you can flip it around and find the secret button. I've done it. But it was a long time ago.

If I recall, the knob comes off the stalk by depressing a little spring clip on the back of the knob, right next to the stalk.

Awesome. Thanks guys.

Just think of it as the light switch's G-spot.
