hey all, I was wondering if anyone has ever wired into their ranger a floor mounted highbeam switch? I would like to have a dual control system that will still keep the colum intake (but not need to work) just not butcher the colum. and place a foot switch onto the floor. I miss the convience of the toe switch.

thanks

did that with my old escort a few years back when the column switch broke and it worked like a charm i just put liquid electrical tap all over the terminals on er.

i thought about doin this for my 4 fog lights up front kinda sneaky like ya know people would be like wheres the switch:icon_confused: and youd be the only one to know hahaha

i was just thinking bout this when i drove our old company ford with the foot switch... should be pretty simple and straight forward

my old 1971 olds had the floor switch... the f*cker stuck in the "high beam" position. LOL

The question is why. It's not that tough to use the colum switch. The old floor switches failed on a fairly regular basis. The get gunked up with salt, sand and dirt. It was such a good thing when they moved them from the floor to the colum. Leave good enough alone. Just my two cents.

I actually find myself agreeing with this guy on something

The reason I am asking about this and I want to do this is because I drive fast on curvy open roads during the summer. Have you ever hit a corner @ 125KM/h (70-75Mph) and have to take your grip off the steering wheel at the last second to feel/fumble for the highbeam switch on the colum? You will get a bit of over steer (or at least on occasion it happens to me) especialy if you hit a small frost heave or bumps at the same time as you let go of the wheel. on city driving it is not a problem to let go of the wheel when driving in a straight line to dim the lights.

I wrote to Ford a few years back telling them that they should incorporate a secondary foot switch. no idea if they ever read the letter or not.... (maybe i should have sent it to GM).... LOL

As for getting gunked up, i spose this comes down to how you set up the switch and prep it.

Any electrical wizards in here that would be able to scamatic how to wire up this switch? thanks

Hmmm.....

Hmmm.....

I hate where I put my Hella 500 switch, on the radio bezel.....wanted to find a more accessible place....

Hmmm......

Should not be hard. Get a test light, unplug the plug from the column ( don't need to dismantle the column) turn on the lights. use test light. write down the wire color. other 2 pins are for hi/low. extend wiring to new floor switch. done.
