I've read that the harmonic balancer bolt is torque to yield. Where can I get a new one or is there an equivalent part number that Ford sells?

Tim

If it was torque to yield you would think it would be easy to get. If it is very hard to find it would make you wonder if it's torque to yield. Not sure why it would be torque to yield like the head bolts are.

I’ve never heard of a bolt other than head bolts being torque to yield. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Now I have seen that instructions for installation on some have been very specific about where there should be lubricant and where not and sometimes there are specific steps in the torque procedure but not torque to yield.

It is TTY. I had my buddy who is a Ford tech look this up in his book because there is conflicting information about it. He told me that the service manual says that it's TTY and said he'd replace it.

E7RY-6A340-B is the part number I believe.

Thanks for this number!!! Was able to easily find a new bolt once I had this number.

Tried all kinds of searches and could not find the right part. I was searching for "harmonic balancer bolt".

Ford calls this bolt "Crankshaft Pulley Bolt".

Hope your local Ford dealer has one. Mine are hit & miss. Sometimes they are special order and you have to buy them in quantities of 10...sometimes they've got some and will sell you just one!

eBay has them part supplier in Arizona. Under 5$ plus change and free shipping.

He's talking about a 94 4.0 Ranger
That ad speaks only of an 05-07 Mustang

I see now, it is correct

I decided to wait on mine, think it was giving me the wrong head bolts

Yeah it is kinda weird. From what I found, there was another part number for our trucks that was superseded by the one I posted.

Sorry about that, I was confused on it, decided I'd wait till later on mine
They have my ebay acct messed up, not sure I want to use that account any more or not

You had 94 in the thread title, that's where I saw it

That was Tim, the OP, that has the 94.

I'm looking to fix coolant leaks in my 99 4.0 so while I'm there I'm going to replace the balancer and bolt.

Apologies for hijacking the thread.
