one of my favorite 4th of July places to be. unfortunately I'll miss it this time.
due to being on the Great Lakes this area saw action in the Revolutionary war.
on the right shore is Fort Michilimackinac which was established before the revolution.

Happy Independence Day.

Pennsylvania is a hot bed of US history, before and after the war for Independence.

The Whiskey Rebellion, the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, the war between the States/War of Northern Agression/Civil War (Pick your favorite), among a lot of other things. The western part of what is now the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was still the frontier at the time of the Revolutionary War period. The Point in Pittsburgh was where the French fort Fort Duquesne was and s contested territory between the indians, French, and the British. Think of the movies Last of the Mohicans and The Patriot. There are locations here that still have French names, even if us Americans have butchered the pronunciation.

Double time for a 11.5hr shift. I’d call that a pretty decent day. Still have all my fingers and toes. Went home and ate a couple hot dogs and went to bed by 9:30.
