Hanging idle 94 ranger

this happens whenever the truck is revved up no matter hot or cold and even when shifting.
The truck will stick at about 1500rpm for a few seconds after letting off the throttle.
Is this normal? All vac lines look like they are attached properly. The truck idles normally around 700 or so.

Very curious about this myself. Hahaha I have a 94 4.0l that does the exact same thing. Idles at 1500 rpms for about 30 seconds to a minute when engine is cold but drops to the normal 700 to 800 rpm idle. But when its warm it will idle perfect. Rev it up and it hangs at 1500 rpm for about 5 to 10 seconds and then back to normal, all vacuum lines and electrical is hooked up and functioning as it is supposed to. Maybe something to do with the intake or the computer itself....not sure, so im gonna keep track of this thread out of curiosity. Just sayin.

Mine did that too, I jerked the TB off and cleaned it really good. Problem gone. Mine had about 3 mm of crap build up on the throttle plate.

Already cleaned up my TB and put in a new gasket.

Is your truck a calipoonian emission truck. Ie. does it have an EGR valve on the drivers side exhaust manifold?
Also look very carefully at the canister purge vacuum line that runs behind the A/C compressor, if that is leaking it will do some goofy stuff.

Naw truck originally is from about 20 miles away from my home here in NC, so no egr.
Ill check that hose though and may try to clean up the MAF as well.
