I saw one yesterday. Is that as stupid as I think it is? I've never driven any SUV or a plow, but I assume someone who knows how to mount a plow must have some knowledge of what trucks to use.
its a big enough truck, the underside of one is comparable to a FS chevy truck of that era, but why would anyone want to do that with a H2? i saw one last year that made me laugh, it was a GMC safari AWD with a 7' plow on the front and a row of about 4 or 5 chrome off road lights on a homemade light bar. it was definately a WTF moment!
It's basically a Suburban underneath so it's definitely tough enough. We just installed one in the shot on a Sub not long ago, mounts up solid. Plus with plows nowadays they usually have removable mounts that just leave a couple brackets on the frame, usually where the tow hooks are. Of course the H2 does come with an optional front mount hitch so there is another possible mounting point.
I was thinkin about a plow just the other day. I know a while back someone wanted to put a plow on a ranger and everyone said it can't be done being that the front of the truck is not meant to have that much weight on the front of it with out having some kind of air bag system. I've seen several Jeep wranglers with plows one of the local car lots here has one. How is it possible for them, There smaller shorter wheel base and they can't possibly take on any more weight than a ranger??
I know a guy with a 2006 FX4 and he has a poly plow on it. It works great for him and the plow is really light. The only weight comes from the mount and it really only weighs about the same as a grille guard. Once the plow is on the ground and you are moving snow their is not weight on the truck. That's why when you drop the plow the front end of the truck comes up. It is not the plow lifting the truck is it merely the weight being taking off the front end.
