Hi guys...

My name is David and just took ownership of my new "used" 2007 Ford Ranger XLT Sport. I recently purchased a new quad and needed something to haul it, and after researching tremendously, I figured that the Ranger was the one for me...

The last truck I owned was a 2007 Honda Ridgeline, which isn't really a truck, but an El Camino on steroid, but needless to say, was a great truck.

Got my Ranger loaded with 50,000 for $13,500, and for Cali prices, that's pretty good.

Came with a fabtech 3" spindle lift with 2.5" rear lift. It sits nice but man I need to learn the whole turn radius thing, or lack there of.

Just got done rerunning all of the sub wiring (came with 2 12" polk subs in custom box which takes up the entire extra cab ) and installed 2 12V switched plugs under dash. I didn't know that Ford makes the inside ones on all the time, & my GPS would have killed the battery lol... Wired her in using a Tap It connector to the accessory wire, but my dumb ass triggered the ABS light as I plugged in hot accidentally. Oh well, you live & you learn I guess...

I look forward to any ideas & help I can get and give in the future. It seems like a relatively easy engine to maintain & service & look forward to it ( and getting to the desert ).

Thanx
David

Nice looking truck! where do you go riding? I have an XR400 myself, And live in socal to! Lol Agoura hills is where i live, Gorman and cal city/Dove springs is where i go!

I ride plaster & ocotillo. Had a CRF150 that I pulled with my Honda Element ( that i'm in the process of selling ) and just got back into big quads. I missed it so much & went out & bought a 2005 TRX450R, just like my old one, except this has Lonestar DC4 A Arms & Elka's, which make a world of difference...

Thats a damn nice rig you got there dude, Welcome to the forums. I almost expected a pre-runner being from socal. We have a ton of them on here. You just need some custom bumpers and some lockers and you'll be good to go.:icon_thumby:

Thanx bro. I know right, prerunners all over socal. Some of the ones I test drove were so out of whack it was scary. Lifts from hell, and no gearing...

I love it, but today was working on her putting 12v's under the dash, and my dumb ass forgot I put the negative back on to test. Now my airbag light is on. Either blew a fuse or have to get reset. Friend is bringing odb2 tomorrow to see if I can reset, and if not, off to ford I go lol...

My own fault, and did the same thing in my older honda element installing a stereo... It happens...

Thanx for the welcome. Get ready for alot of dumb questions all...

Thanx
David

Next time pull the negative battery cable then pull the airbag fuse, then locate the wire harness for the airbag and dissconnect it. Then airbag system is safe to work around. reconnect in revese order.

I may have just blown the fuse but ran out of light. Not worried about it really, and appreciate that goby.

I was searching for switched power which I eventually found ( damn the ranger has alot of wires ). Cant remember the color I eventually used, but was one of the accessory ones ( think Gray / Yellow ). Not Yellow / Gray which is what I tried first, and a brown one as well.

Was a minor nightmare, but got her done & now have GPS that turns off when key is out.

Do this with all my vehicles. Have to have hidden clean wires.

Thanx
David

Yeah. My friend had the amp wires all over. Reran all that today as well. I dont want to see anything at all. My fat bulldog would mess something up in there lol...

+1 to clean and hidden wires! Lol i just re routed the cable for my ultra-gauge by pulling the fuse box outta the dash and sliding the cable thru so my hand does not catch the cable when i pull the ebrake! Lol cable routed behind A pilar! im hoping for my bday this year ill do a complete ipod ready system with a nice speaker setup! WE should mos def go riding my truck is on 31's stock suspension!

I'm trying to get out this weekend, weather and time permitting. Not much time left in the season.

where in socal are you? theres a lot space to ride out in pine valley if your in the san diego area.

I am in sd and have seen all the ohv areas in pine valley. Some need adventure pass and some don't. I really just assume driving the extra half hour to the desert bottom. That's my fun.
