Hey crew, so I know this thread is worthless without pics but it's still dark on top of the world here so I'll just try to explain.

From what I've read and noticed the Rangers had grab handles on the roof until 98 and then they got moved to the A-pillars in 99. But my 98 has a handle in both spots on the passenger's side. Is anyone else's truck like this or is it just something the body-shop did when they repaired the tumble-weed?

*edit*
Here is what I have. Driver's side A-pillar and both on the passenger's side.

Thanks

My 02 XLT doesn't have one in either spot, however the 02 XLT FX4 has them on the A Pillar. I pulled the trim off of the A Pillar and the mounting holes are there. I have ordered the A Pillars and Handles from an 02 FX4, I'll let y'all know if it bolts right up or is an exercise in futility.

I seem to remember seeing one with them in both spots once. Looked pretty factory, but that doesn't mean the guy did just go get the part and add one.

IMO, the more oh-shit bars you have, the better.

I want one for the driver-side A-pillar. Has anyone added this handy little mod to a '99?

My 84 B2 had one on both sides on the roof, but my F150 dont have any im not sure why?

my 99 has em on the roof only, also my bros 00 has em on the roof
my moms 03 has em on the a-pillars, so i guess they started on the pillars on the 01+
mike yours is a 4x4 so its possible that 4x4 had both locations

My 98 has one on each a-pillar, so who knows?

My 04 Edge has them on both A-pillars but not on the roof.

Just to add to the confusion, of course I had to go out and make sure, my 2000 4x4 Sport has neither, the '05' 4x4 has them on on the "A" pillar and the '01' 4x2 had them but can't remember where, believe the pillars.

i guess not based on trim cuz my moms 0 is a plain basemodel
and the 99 and 00 are xlt's

Odd...

My Ranger had one above the door on the passenger side and that's it (2000 XLT supercab 2wd)

My '95 F-150 XL 4x4 has none (but has the fabric headliner)

My dad's '89 F-350 Custom and '94 F-350 XL had no headliner and no handles.

My '89 Choptop had handles on both sides above the doors.

My '88 Eddie Bauer BII has four handles... two above the front doors and two on the ceiling for the back seat.

Mom's '02 Explorer XLS has them on the A-pillars and on the B-pillars (4-door).

My (base?) '97 has none, so I added the one on the passenger's side roof. The mounts were in there, so I just added the handle and it was done. While doing that I noticed that the pillars had the provisions for those handles. :icon_confused:

My gf has nice grab handles though! :hottubfun: (and yes we actually have a hot tub, too)
