Ok, so I have the 3.0 in my 2001 XLT and I am trying, for the life of me, to find replacement bolts for my upper intake manifold.

Now here are the scenarios I've already gone through;

- Went to a junk yard (or 8) and looked at all the Rangers/Explorers/Aerostars and all the bolts that I was finding are too big.

- Called Ford/went into a dealership to order bolts. I was then told (AFTER waiting for them to come in) that they were discontinued and replaced by the ones that are used in the current Rangers. Well, they are also too big.

- Went to another junk yard that claimed to have the exact engine I had (recommended by the dealership) and that was a no go, they were also too big.

I need to get these darn things to get her running again, because it's about to be my only transportation due to me selling my GTO and I'll have no car for work soon. I would GREATLY appreciate help from anyone that knows more about this than I do.

Thanks a TON!

Mark.

PS, here's a pic of the bolts that I'm trying to find. I need 4 more, I only have 1.

I replaced almost EVERY bolt on my recent 3.0 build at my local Ace Hardware, do you have one of those near you? I say Ace as opposed to Home Depot or Lowes, because Ace has a, 1. much bigger selection, and 2. more metric and odd sizes.

Good Luck!

??

How much too long are the replacement bolts? Are the threads on the replacement ones such that you could cut the bolts off to the correct length and still use them?

There is one around. I'll have to check them out. I can't say as I've ever been there before. Thanks!

Order them from Mcmaster Carr.

Sorry about the confusion, they are too thick not too long. They don't fit at all. :(

If all else fails, you can just drill/tap the holes for the larger, newer size.

If I remember right they are M8x1.25.

That's where it differentiates, the one I have are M6x1.25...

If all else fails, you can just drill/tap the holes for the larger, newer size.

That was a plan. My friend can do it so, that will be the step right before getting a whole new motor. Haha

No Problem, Mcmaster Carr has many items, If you get bored sometime find one of their published catalogs & just start looking through it, pretty amazing.

Glad you found them
