helping my lil cousin build him a go kart we already got a frame with tires and everything just needs motor so i found a motor at our local harbor frieght its a 6.5 honda clone was wanting to know if there is a way to run some kind of off road lights on it so we can ride it at night thanks for anykind of info......

I'd just get a lawnmower battery, switch and lights, just recharge when needed, or you could go all out, with a small alternator from a wrecker hooked to the chain drive it would not be perfect but it would help with the charging.

id just go with a battery. Those lights shouldnt draw too much power and its not like youre gonna be driving all night.

On another note, what kind of go kart is it? street or offroad?

thanks for info guys i was thinking about using a small alternator off of a honda or something like that we are going to use it out at the farm and dont have electric where i am going to store it and it would be a hassle to take the battery to the garage to charge it

be carefull some lights draw a lot of power. i have a 12 volt lawmower battery on my tractor and it will stay charged for about 3 days with light use of lights and starting my 11 hp b&s. i also have a stator to charge with but it only really charges at high rpms and i dont rev it that high unless im in the sand or flyin down the open trails.
