GM going small on trucks: Ummm Bill?

the real reason is because they need to get as fuel efficient as possible as a company, and despite the technology, we still havent found anything better then just shedding weight.

Its because of stupid emissions that we are not allowed to have vehicles that get better mileage. The government is keeping us from getting better fuel mileage...

regardless of what conspiracies there are about "fuel mileage"... this is GOOD for GM. They've got a v6 that they can stash in that truck and get great gas mileage, and the ability for it to still be put to work. Ford does too, with the 3.7, but no one really knows the future with the T6 possibly being sold here or a 3.7 equipped F150 instead.

Either way, the thought of that much power with GREAT fuel economy in a small truck makes me smile ear to ear.

Yeah, the rumors keep swirling about a lighter duty F-series with a V6 or V6 Ecoboost.... But truly, why make this truck? Isn't it likely to be about the same in cost? After all, it's basically the same components, isn't it?

Besides, not everyone wants a full or nearly full-sized truck. I've got that now, but I want another Ranger in it's place. I can't fit my 150 supercab in my garage, and my last Ranger, '03 4WD supercab fit fine and had much more balls and fun-to-drive factor too.

All Ford would need to do would be to redesign the Ranger with an improved suspension, stiffer frame, add the new 3.7L, re-engineer the cab for a bit more room and to meet future crash standards and they'd be selling like they did in the best of times.
Heck, they could even toss an Ecoboosted engine into one of these for a baby Raptor(4WD)/Lightning(2WD) model.

Why they want to do the F150 with Ecoboost or the other V6... as ranger replacement A: gas mileage. B: boost f-series sales.
