When my glove box shuts it doesn't push the" bar"in the mechanism in far enough to turn off the bulb...ive adjusted it, still can get it to work right.......i know that this would obviously be a drain with that bulb on all the time, but if i take out the bulb, does that eliminate the drain?...the SIGNAL is still there i guess but does the bulb have to light up to cause a drain?....sorry if this seems like a silly question, im not great with electric.........

Removing the bulb opens the circuit and no current can flow. A perfectly suitable fix for the problem as long as you don't mind the absence of the light.

Thank you....if you ever have a lawn and garden question hit me up lol

That prompted me to see if I have light in glove box (yes) as I never had occasion yet to open it at night. It goes off when glove box door is about 1/2" shy of shut. I can't see where the switch is though... must be described in shop manual.

What about just unhooking the pigtail from the bulb fixture? would there be constant signal to the pigtail, and thus my drain? or does removing pigtail also open the circuit ? Thanks

The switch is like a plastic lever that lies horizontally in the latch connecting mechanism inside the glove box....and the two tangs from the glove box door latch press the lever shut tight against a small contact pad/bar, or at least, SHOULD, and when pressed tight against little bar the signal stops.....you can manually move the lever with fingers.....i need to try to get mine right

Removing g the pigtail opens the circuit unless it somehow comes in contact with the metal body or frame of the truck. Then it blows a fuse. So, if you disconnect the pigtail, make sure you wrap the connector completely with electrical tape to insulate it. Personally, I would just remove the bulb. It's easier and you don't have a loose live wire flopping around.

Ok thanks, will do

ok I see little switch. couldn't find it easily for your model but they are cheap like $12.
could try CRC elec cleaner on it but probably not that. either switch is fubar or mountings came loose is my guess not telling you anything you don't already know I'm sure
j-yard if can't find it new but I bet you can and at that price it's not worth driving to j-yard
or just take out bulb if you don't want to mess with it, as noted
good luck
