knowing my luck with Facebook marketplace, probably a scam,
started out talking like yeah whatever you need. Let me know parting out not selling whole and now, it’s at a junkyard that his friend owns that’s not open on the weekends. yeah OK.
Why would you want a TK? If you are doing a transmission swap anyway, go with something newer and better.
Check out car-part.com and see if you can find a better transmission closer and at a decent price. You should be able to use the manual transmission from any 2wd 4 cylinder Ranger or B-series up through the 2001. Both the early 2.3L and 2.5L have the same bellhousing pattern.
Don't think you can use the transmission from the later Duratech 2.3L, and it started in 2002 per the site's tech library.
Already have the trans and drivelines just after the bell, had a bad experience with 2 tk5’s never an issue out of the tk4. M5od blah blah blah.
I’ve got a 2.8 tk4 and 1350 all together as I pulled it. Dropping it in the new chassis as is isn’t complicated enough, need to subtract 2 cylinders & .5 liters of displacement.
I think you would find that you are the outlier there, but its not worth arguing.
You're looking for a transmission that was only used for a few years in about three platforms. Even then it likely was not the popular option when ordering, and not something that is collector enough for people to be squirreling away. Your best chance at finding one is to do a nation wide search on the site I sugested and find someone willing to ship.
Sounds like you only need the bellhousing, not the entire transmission. From people going 4 speed to 5 speed in the past, I'm fairly certain that the TK4 and TK5 both used the same bellhousing for the same engine. I can't say if they used the same input shaft between the different engines. Might be worth the time to do a search for just bellhousings too.
You seem to be worried about scams. The site I listed is a national salvage yard database. Anyone signing up to list their inventory on there is a professional salvage yard.
