well hi everyone, im new to the site.. i have searched a few times for the right answer but nothing told me what i needed.. i have a 86 ranger shortbed, regular cab, 4x4, 5 speed manual with a 2.3l engine.. i bought it because ive never found another one like it..anything else has the 2.9.. but enough of my mouth...
i bought a 3 inch bodylift for it and it seems to have a 2 inch lift on it already, im looking to run 31 inch tires so i have some chance in mud and on trails when i go wheeling, which isnt alot of the time.. i have the stock d28 and 7.5 and im stuck between 4.11 gears, and 4.56 gears.. i drive it ALOT on the roads, around town, and i go out of town every weekend.. i need to know if i would be fine with 31s and my stock gears, or if i would absolutely have to change my gears for 31s.
what im looking for are gears capable of highway speeds, a decent takeoff, and it needs some help when going up hills. i have 215.17.15 tires on it now and its pretty fast for a stock abused 2.3..
