Bare with me, this may get long and/or off track...
I kinda dig the look of 2nd gen taurus's(91-95), and they have the 3.0 vulcans that rangers have, and a 3.8 essex V6.
My father has a 2004 freestar with a 4.2 essex V6, this thing for being a mini van has got some pep, with 201hp at 4800rpm and 265ft/lbs at 3400rpm.
And from doing some research on here the 4.2 V6 can bolt up to any tranny a 3.0 uses and the 4.2 is a stroked 3.8, so you can probably see were I'm going here...
Put a 4.2 essex V6 in a taurus...
It makes sense, the freestar weights 3800ish lbs and it can haul some ass for a van, a ranger weights 3500ish lbs and people say it would be a great engine swap and a taurus weights less than 3300 lbs so it would be a even better swap.
Now you may say why not get taurus SHO, and my answer is because this would be different, and better IMO, the sho V6's get 220hp at 6200rpm and 215ft/lbs at 3800rpm, sure its higher reving and has 18ish more hp, but wouldnt the 65ft/lbs at a lower rpm make up for it? and I can maybe get 18 more hp with some bolt stuff.
I could even maybe use a manual tranny from a SHO since they same bolt pattern as the 3.0 vulcan, if I wanted a manual, or use a 3.8 auto tranny
I dont know, maybe Im crazy for thinking this is a good idea or for wasting money on this but WHATEVER!!!!
^that or a fully built 460 powered notchback with a B&M C6!!!!
